Tabor Winery sits at the foot of Mount Tabor, drawing its name and its grapes from the hills of the lower Galilee. Founded in 1999, the winery has grown from a small operation into one of Israel’s most respected producers, winning international awards and proving that the Galilee can compete with the Golan Heights as a premium wine region.
The Wines
Tabor produces a range of wines across several labels, from the accessible Adama (Earth) series to the premium Mount Tabor and limited-edition single-vineyard wines. The flagship Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot blends have won medals at international competitions, and the winery’s white wines, particularly the Viognier, are among the best in Israel.
The Galilee terroir gives Tabor’s wines a character distinct from the volcanic Golan: softer, warmer, with ripe fruit and Mediterranean herbs. The difference between a Golan Cabernet and a Galilee Cabernet is real, and a tasting at Tabor is the best way to discover it.
The Visitor Center
The winery’s visitor center offers guided tours of the production facility and tastings in a modern, well-designed space. The staff is knowledgeable and enthusiastic, and the experience is polished without being corporate. The views of Mount Tabor from the terrace are a bonus.
