Vered HaGalil (Rose of the Galilee) is a guest ranch on the hills overlooking the Sea of Galilee, founded in 1961 by a Chicago-born cowboy named Yehuda Avni who decided that the Galilee needed horseback riding. He was right. The ranch offers trail rides through the Galilee countryside with views of the lake, the Golan, and the surrounding hills that make you feel very far from the 21st century.
The Experience
Rides range from one-hour trots to full-day adventures across the Galilee backcountry. The ranch also has a well-regarded restaurant and guest cabins for overnight stays. The combination of horses, Galilee scenery, and a steak dinner makes Vered HaGalil one of the most unexpected and enjoyable experiences in northern Israel.
Visit with Hoshen Tours
Hoshen Tours includes Vered HaGalil in itineraries for visitors who want to experience the Galilee beyond the churches and archaeological sites. Because some of the best views of the Holy Land come from the back of a horse.
